While staying at Ivy Bank in Windermere you may wish to indulge in an aromatherapy treatment. Sue is a qualified Aromatherapist and as long as you book in advance she will be able to provide this relaxing treatment for you. Each client has a fifteen minute consultation to ensure that the treatment is appropriate. There are certain contra indications such as epilepsy, diabetes, high or low blood pressure, heart problems, back problems or if you’re taking any medication. If you suffer from any of the above speak to your doctor prior to the aromatherapy treatment to make sure it would be safe for you to have an aromatherapy massage.
There are fourteen different essential oils that Sue can chose from including lavender, bergamot, clary sage, rosemary, tea tree, eucalyptus, petitgrain, camomile, black pepper, sandalwood, frankincense, rose, geranium and juniper. Sue will discuss any health problems that you may be suffering from and chose three oils that are specifically geared to help relive your symptoms. For example she may choose lavender, camomile and rose for a female client suffering from stress. Geranium, rose and lavender would be a good blend for pre-menstrual tension or menopausal symptoms. For a client with aching muscles the blend might include black pepper and juniper. Frankincense is good for more mature skin. Many of the essential oils act as hormone balancers and it is therefore important that they are not used on pregnant women. Massage should be avoided completely in the first four months of pregnancy. The massage is carried out in our comfortable lounge at Ivy Bank, Windermere. Sue provides a relaxing atmosphere with subdued lighting and music that has been specially written for aromatherapy treatments.
The client can choose either a full body massage - which lasts seventy-five minutes - or a back massage lasting thirty minutes or alternatively the client could choose to have a neck and shoulder massage and a facial, again lasting about thirty minutes. The full body aromatherapy massage costs £35 at present and a back massage or facial/neck massage would be £20.
Guests who decide to indulge in a treatment usually seem very pleased with the massage. It is great to be able to come on holiday to Windermere and have this relaxing treatment at a small bed and breakfast establishment without the hassle of driving to a beauty/health salon. Guests can feel so relaxed that they want to just fall asleep. To get the full benefit of the massage the client is advised to leave the oils on the skin for twenty four hours, to eat only light meals straight after, to avoid alcohol and caffeine and to drink plenty of water to help cleanse the system.
It is widely accepted that massage is good for the health, acting for a release for stress, toning muscles, improving circulation and respiration, invigorating the skin and giving a general feeling of well-being to the recipient. When you come to stay at Ivy Bank in Windermere perhaps you should try an aromatherapy treatment for your self.
