About us

Ivy Bank is a pretty Victorian house built in the 1890's from local slate and provides comfortable accommodation in a family home. Although situated on a small road away from main thoroughfares it is only a few minutes walk from the village centre, railway station, restaurants, shops and pubs.

Many of its original features have been retained, such as the elegant pitch pine staircase, exposed beams and ornate cornices.

We like to maintain a relaxed and informal atmosphere in our home and for you to feel at home while you are staying with us. Ivy Bank is completely non-smoking and is centrally heated throughout offering a choice of double, twin or family rooms. All are en-suite and equipped and furnished to a high standard. For more details see our Bedrooms page.

Residents Lounge If you need to check your email or access the internet we have wireless internet access throughout the house. There is a first floor lounge for our guests use with plenty of Tourist Information, sample menus from local restaurants and a good choice of reading material. For younger visitors there is a selection of toys and games.

The choice for breakfast is more than most people could want but then that means you don't need to worry too much about lunch. If you’re not a big eater that’s okay, you can just have whatever you like from the menu. See the Breakfast page.

We have a car park at the rear of the property and there are no parking restrictions on Holly Road. If you have bikes ( pedal or motor ) we can provide safe storage for them.

While staying at Ivy Bank guests are able to take advantage of our membership of a local leisure club. This includes free use of most of the facilities, including swimming pool, sauna, steam room, spa bath, gymnasium, badminton and snooker. You can see what this looks like on the Leisure Club & Pool page.

Sue is a qualified Sports and Remedial Masseuse and Aromatherapist and can offer these treatments in the afternoons and evenings. More details on the Aromatherapy And Remedial Massage Page.

Getting to Windermere is easy. There are regular National Coaches, frequent local trains to and from the West Coast Main Line, we are on the Cumbria Cycle Route and only 25 minutes by car from the M6 motorway junction 36. For more information see our "how to find us" page.

We try to provide an informal and relaxing atmosphere as a base for whatever activities you wish to pursue. Whether you are walking, touring, cycling, sailing, horse riding, sightseeing, climbing, snoozing or simply having a good time, you will be welcome at Ivy Bank.
